A lovely Dutch guest
MS " Rotterdam " is a frequent guest in Norway and Oslo. We visited the beautyful cruise ship from the Netherlands and here you can see pictures and read more about the ship.
MS ' Rotterdam ' is one of 16 cruise ships in the fleet of Holland America Line. The ship is the sixth in a series bearing the name Rotterdam. The policy of the shipping company is to recycle the names of the ships. This means that when a ship is taken out of the fleet, the next new ship that launched will take over the same name. MS Rotterdam was built in Venice in Italy, and was ready to sail in 1997. She has a capacity of 1400 passengers and a crew of 600. Length of the ship is 238 meters and it have a top speed of 25 knots (46 km/h).
In June and July are Rotterdam a lot to see in Norway, and will be visiting several Norwegian fjords. The ship also sails to Baltics, before turning to destinations in the south when we come out in the late summer and autumn. Then it cruises around Iberia, before Africa and Canary Islands are on the program.
Holland America Line was founded in 1873. The Dutch company was an important instrument to transport hundreds of thousands of immigrants from the Netherlands to North America.
