More than 2 million passengers travel by international ferries each year. From Oslo, daily ferries go to Denmark and Germany. The ferries also transport a significant volume of cargo and goods. Color Line has two cruise ferries operating between Oslo and Kiel. It is Norway's largest shipping company for international passenger and cargo to and from Norway, and among Europe's leaders in short sea shipping.
Gotlandsbolaget has the route between Oslo and Copenhagen. They took over the route from DFDS on November 1, 2024, but bookings are still made through DFDS’s website.
